On the up, with progressive thinking and alw ays wiling to lend a helping hand In less than a decade in media agencies, Ricardo Lopes has risen to the position of global client services director in one of South Africa’s biggest network agencies. But in the end Ricardo Lopes, global client services director at Carat South Africa, triumphed. “He has achieved this through being tirelessly ambitious in his desire to make a meaningful impact on his clients’ businesses. He has constantly looked to stretch himself and his skills to deliver the best possible solutions, based on valuable and actionable insights. Having identified these, he has shown that he is unafraid to roll up his sleeves and pitch in to implement the appropriate solutions,” explains independent media consultant Britta Reid. “Such willingness to tackle the hard and unglamorous graft is a true sign of leadership. His immense likeability means that people enjoy joining in the graft with him,” she adds. Besides delivering the best possible work for his clients, Lopes has also been committed to contributing to the broader industry, always willing to lend a helping hand. He is arguably one of the most involved people in the media, and has devoted many hours to industry bodies such as the Advertising Media Association of South Africa (AMASA) and the Advertising Media Forum (AMF). “As a Rising Star, it’s also your time that you give back to the industry and that’s critical.
